History

1949 — Buddhist Study Center established at the Berkeley Buddhist Temple

1966 — Buddhist Study Center registered with the State of California as the Institute of Buddhist Studies, Seminary and Graduate School

1985 — IBS affiliates with the Graduate Theological Union

2006 — IBS moves into the Jodo Shinshu Center, Berkeley

2017 — IBS awarded candidacy by the Wester Association of Schools and Colleges, Senior College and University Commission
