IBS Tuition & Fees

The Institute of Buddhist Studies sets its tuition and fees in accordance with the Graduate Theological Union. Please see the GTU website for the most up-to-date tuition and fee schedule.

Tuition and fees are subject to change without notification.

Tuition or Fee Amount
Application fee (non-refundable) $40
Please note: application fee is payable to GTU for MA (Buddhist Studies), and to IBS for all other degree and certificate programs.
Registration fee (non-refundable, all students, including auditors and seniors) $100/semester
Tuition $630/semester unit
Please note: tuition rate is usually adjusted upward by the GTU each academic year
Fieldwork tuition $750/3 units (see catalogue, II.F.7, for details)
Continuing Tuition one half of full-time tuition
Auditor $750/course
Leave of Absence fee $100/semester
Late registration fee $100
Change in enrollment (after second week of semester, per change) $50
Please note: for example, dropping a class & adding another is considered 2 changes
Graduation fee $150
Payable to IBS or GTU, depending on program.
Please note: there will be an additional charge for binding a total of four copies of the thesis required for the MA (Buddhist Studies) degree program.
Certificate fee $50
Change of incomplete to letter grade $50
Transcript fee (per copy) $5
Reinstatement fee $150
Please note: only students who have withdrawn in accord with stated policies may be reinstated (see catalouge, II.H.7, for details)

Senior Discount: those 65+ may receive a 50% discount on tuition for au- dited classes (does not apply to coursework undertaken for credit).
