IBS Theravāda Speaker Series: Bhikkhunī Identity in Contemporary Sri Lanka

Join us for a discussion regarding Theravāda Bhikkhunī (nuns) on Tuesday, September 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Jodo Shinshu Center in Berkeley, Ca. Our speaker will be Rev. Dr. Unapane Pemananda Thero, a Sri Lankan Buddhist monk and scholar based in Norway, where he has served as Buddhist chaplainat the Sri Lanka Buddhist Vihara since2014. He holds a PhD in Buddhist Studies from the University of Hong Kong and researches interreligious dialogue, phenomenology of religion, and lived religious experience across Sri Lanka, Norway, and Hong Kong.
