The Institute of Buddhist Studies offers two graduate degree programs designed to deepen your understanding of Buddhist thought, history, and practice.

  • The Master of Divinity, a 72-unit professional and in-person degree, prepares students for careers in Buddhist ministry and chaplaincy.
  • The Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies, a 48-unit degree which may be completed fully online, provides a rigorous academic foundation for doctoral study and professional service.

March 1 is the priority application deadline for IBS’s degree programs. Students may also apply by November 1 for spring entrance.

Students are encouraged to apply by the deadline to receive consideration for some institutional grants.
