Alex Feerst is General Counsel at Neuralink, a neurotechnology company developing implantable brain-machine interfaces. Before that, he was Head of Legal at Medium, where his work included crafting and enforcing the platform’s content policies. Before Medium, he practiced at several law firms, with clients including Twitter, Google, and Wikimedia. He holds a BA and JD from Columbia and a PhD in English from Duke, where he was a fellow at the Kenan Institute for Ethics. He’s a fellow at Stanford University’s Center for Internet and Society and affiliated with Indiana University’s Ostrom Workshop on Cybersecurity and Internet Governance. He serves on the board of the San Francisco Intellectual Property Law Association and the Thoughtful Technology Project. He writes and speaks frequently about law and policy affecting online expression, and recently published a set of interviews with online content moderators about their work.
