On Friday, December 9th, students, faculty and staff gathered to celebrate Rev. Dr. Daijaku Kinst’s teaching career at IBS. The event began with speeches and toasts by President Matsumoto and Dean Scott Mitchell, as well as IBS faculty Dr. Nancy Lin and Dr. Kinst. President Matsumoto reflected on both the sadness of change brought about by Dr. Kinst’s stepping down as faculty, as well as his immense gratitude at her contributions to IBS.

Following the faculty speeches, students and alumni who could not attend in person shared their appreciation of Dr. Kinst via zoom. This was a heartfelt moment and some students were moved to tears sharing their reflection of Dr. Kinst and her impact on their spiritual practice and careers.

Attendees then celebrated in the lobby with a reception and cake. Attendees appreciated the chance to mingle, eat and drink in person after years of online events.
